Ambry is 7!

Our sweet girl is 7 today!
Ambry, you are so funny.
You are constantly making your daddy and Trey and I all LAUGH!
Supper time at the table is your favorite time to be "on stage"!
You definitely have a strong personality and know just what you want.
I am sure that will serve you well as you get older.
We are loving getting to see you learn to play the drums and excel in school!
I pray that you will always be as happy and content as you were tonight... with your favorite meal and your family by your side.
Mommy and Daddy are SO proud that you are our daughter.
God blessed our socks off when He gave you to us 7 years ago today!
We love you Ambry-Su, Punkadunk, TinyBeautiful!!!
Many many more happy birthdays to our little princess!

Cupcake Wars!

What a weekend!
We were so blessed to have both sets of Grandparents come to visit for Ambry's 7th birthday party.  Her chef party was a blast!
We made pizzas, fruit kabobs, and fancy drinks and
we had a cupcake decorating contest.
We played hot potato and ran off our energy outside after all of that sugar!
Ambry received some very thoughtful gifts.
Nana and Papaw gave her a beautiful Pandora bracelet
with an angel bead and a cupcake bead!
Grammy and Grumps outfitted her and her American Girl doll with matching cupcake pajamas, cupcake slippers, and initial dresses!
We are so thankful we have such wonderful friends and family in our life!!!

Making pizzas using biscuit dough and a variety of toppings.
Chef Daddy showed everyone how to throw the dough!
 Making fancy drinks!
Fabulous fruit kabobs!
Ambry's friend Megan gave her half of a best friend necklace.
Nana's hilarious Cupcake WARS card!
Decorating cupcakes for the Cupcake War.
Each guest also gave their cupcake a name!
Megan won for the kids and her mom won for the adults.
 Jumping off that sugar!
Ambry made a Barbie Beach after the party was over.
(She modeled it after the famous Barbie Beach on Highway 16. HA!)

American Girl

For Ambry's birthday, Luke and I wanted to give her an American Girl doll.
She has been asking for one for a while now.
So we drove up to Luke's office today and met him, and then he came with us to the American Girl Boutique and Bistro in Atlanta.
WOW!
I've never seen a store devoted solely to dolls and their clothes
and accessories. There were even rows upon rows of books about them.

Ambry was overwhelmed when we arrived, but she quickly found her way around the store and loved looking at all of the American Girl merchandise!
She chose a doll that looks simmilar to herself and we had her doll's ears pierced at the doll salon (yes, I am serious!),
and then got Ambry and her doll matching American Girl shirts to wear.

We had lunch reservations at the American Girl Bistro.
Rebecca Marleea (as Ambry has named her) had her own little booster seat at the table and her own tiny tea cup!
The bistro was a little girl's dream!
Pink and flowers everywhere and yummy meal choices with a big ice cream sundae to celebrate her upcomming birthday for dessert.
Luke even turned off the airbags in his truck on the ride back to his office so Ambry could sit up front and snuggle with her daddy!

It was a sweet sweet day and I am so thankful that Luke and I were able to share it with Ambry.
Happy early 7th birthday to our "American Girl"!

Enjoying the Little Things...

Two of my oldest friends, who I highly admire and respect, have blogged this week about savoring life's moments and living life to the fullest.
I have been thoroughly encouraged by Mandi and Tracy's posts.
We try very hard to appreciate daily life, the "little things"
and each moment we have together as a family.

Today was an ordinary day, but I snapped a few photos because I want to remember the random things that made us smile...

On our way to art camp this morning we saw one of our favorite locals.
We like to call him GOLD GUY!
(Trey and Ambry scream this out the window when we drive past him.)
He puts on the best show to attract attention for the gold store.
He is really talented and always shoots us a peace sign as we drive by.
I wish I knew how to upload video to show his dance moves!

After art camp, Becky, Pam, Abigail, Will, Trey and Ambry and I went for lunch at La Parillia.  The kids played on the benches outside after we ate.
The weather was beautiful.

These are the burlap owl wall hangings the kids made at art camp.
Becky found one in a store downtown and she was able to copy it and then teach the kids how to create one.
They make me happy!

And finally, poppy seed chicken, green beans and buttered rolls for supper!
Ahhh, comfort food at the end of the day.
We are headed to cuddle up on the sofa and watch American Idol.
Our day was blessed and FULL!
Thanks God!

Cooking Up Some Fun!

Ambry's 7th birthday party is this Saturday!
She asked for a Chef themed party after we saw some adorable photos of one.
(Thanks Melissa!)
We have been busy getting the little last minute details finished.
Here are a few photos of the invitation,
party favors (cookie dough in a jar), thank-you notes,
and dining room decorations.

I made a peasant top for Ambry to wear out of the
aqua cupcake fabric that is on the party favors.
(Aqua is her favorite color at the moment!)

We hope it will be a very special celebration for our little 7 year old chef!

Relic Hunting

We went down to Moultrie for part of our winter break
to do a little relic hunting with our best friends, the Lanhams!

Lots of good food was eaten, many old relics were found,
there was tons of laughter and non-stop good times outdoors.

Trying to find Grandaddy Buckner's lost wedding ring out behind the barn!
Our stair steps.

Relic hunting at an old homestead.
Aunt Kathy's gorgeous 40-acres.
The hay loft was a huge hit!

We are SO very thankful to Luke's mom who always welcomes us
to make these precious memories down on the farm.
