Crazy Cookies!

Crazy Cookies.

I can only allow myself to make them two or three times a year because they are just so yummy.  They are called cookie crack by a sweet friend of mine because they are so highly addictive.

This is the only evidence that remains from last week's batch.
And here is the recipe.  It's dangerous, but oh so good!!!

Crazy Cookies:
2 sticks butter (not margarine)
1 sleeve of saltine crackers
1 cup sugar
12 oz. bag mini semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butterscotch chips
Optional, toffee bits

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Line a cookie sheet with foil.  The cookie sheet needs to have sides.
Spray the foil lined sheet with Pam.
Cover the foil lined sheet with saltines, completely.
Now, melt the butter in a small sauce pan.  Stir in the sugar.  Continue stirring until this comes to a boil.  Boil for exactly 3 minutes, keep stirring the whole time.
Pour the butter/sugar mixture over the crackers and spread evenly.
Put this all into the oven and bake for 5 minutes.
As soon as you pull it out of the oven, sprinkle with the butterscotch chips.  Then sprinkle with the mini chocolate chips.  Give them a couple of minutes of melt and then use the back of a spoon to spread over the crackers.  Sprinkle with toffee bits if you prefer.
Refrigerate until firm.
Break into pieces and store in an airtight container or ziploc bag in the fridge.
Eat some quickly, because once your family and friends taste crazy cookies they go FAST!

Sick!

When she's sick, she wants her daddy's sleeping bag, two pillows for her head, a cold sprite with a straw, and a cozy spot on the sofa with her mommy spooned behind her.

I hope she feels better soon... but not too soon.

Down on The Farm

We enjoyed a sort of last-minute, quick visit to Moultrie this weekend.

Luke's Aunt Mary called us on Thursday night to tell us about a train show in Albany on Saturday and Sunday.  Luke has been wanting to go down and get a load of pinestraw for our house and we have not seen our Moultrie family since Thanksgiving, so we decided to drive down on Saturday.  As spur of the moment as it gets for the Lucas family!

Nana and Aunt Kathy met us for lunch at Barber's when we got into town!  We love some Barber's sweet tea with extra ice and a steak sandwich "all the way"!  :)

The girls did a little shopping on the square in Moultrie after lunch and made a visit to the cemetary to look at the new flowers on Grandaddy and Grandmama's gravesite.  We had fun laughing and catching up.

The guys went out to Jon and Selena's pond house to try and shoot some ducks and have some man time.

Saturday night, Uncle Randy and Aunt Mary had us all over for a steak supper at their house.  The food was delicious and Trey and Ambry had a ball hanging out with Taylor and Tucker.  The best part of the night was all of us sitting around the big dining table after we ate, telling jokes and stories and reminiscing about Grandaddy and Grandmama.

After a big country breakfast Sunday morning, we spent the rest of the day outside.

Trey and Ambry had BB gun practice.  (It was a sad day for a few little birds!)  Nana gave them a can of silver spray paint and let them spruce up one of the pasture gates.  Luke cut up fallen limbs for firewood.  The kids big and small played on the tire swing and we soaked up the South Georgia sunshine.  We had so much fun we never even made it to the train show!
The famous tire swing!  It got lots of use this weekend.  Check out that backdrop... see why we love it here?!!!  :)

Some rubber gloves, a can of silver spray paint, and freedom to paint the pasture gates = FARM FUN!

So beautiful... pieces of cotton that the wind blew up into the pecan trees.

Lukey and his mama share a love for the farm and its landscape.  They were checking out the pecan trees Luke planted two years ago and deciding where to put the new ones.

 Mother and son.

Tire swing antics!

We made the most of our short time together.
It's always special down on the farm!

A Stuffed Animal CONVENTION!

Trey and Ambry called me into Ambry's room last night before bedtime, and this is what I saw!  Ambry said, "Look Mommy, it's a stuffed animal convention!"  I laughed so hard!  (I didn't realize she knew what a convention was.)  The two of them annoy each other so much these days, it's so sweet when they get along and play nicely together!

Special Dishes

My Uncle David gave us these beautiful wedgewood dishes after my sweet Aunt Libbie passed away.  The dishes were once their fine china.  I had always admired them and I was so thankful that he decided to pass them on to our family.  I put them in our china cabinet this month and I think they look stunning.  Everytime I glance at them, I am reminded of my aunt... one of the most amazing women I will ever know.

A crystal bowl that was my Grandmother's is also displayed, a treasured gift from my parents this past Christmas.

I really enjoy not only displaying but USING our heirloom china.  I think it gives our meals and our table cherished memories of those we love.  Trey and Ambry always ask about the dishes if we are using something different from our everyday set, and it's fun to tell the story of each piece to them.
Luke's mom, my Mama Lu has always taught me to USE my "stuff" she says  "Don't let it sit on a shelf and gather dust because afterall,
we can't take it with us!"

Babysitting!

We had the pleasure of babysitting the sweetest little man today... EASTON!
We made a baby area in the dining room!  The dining table worked great as a changing table!!!
He got lots of cuddles... there weren't too many moments in the day when he was not being held!!!
Trey and Ambry even asked if we could give them a baby brother!!!  I think we'll just have to see if we can "borrow" little E again soon!

A Frozen Tradition

Every winter, since Trey was two, Luke has made us a Winter Wonderland by leaving a sprinkler atop a ladder, running in the backyard on a VERY cold night!  As the years have passed, he has sometimes added scaffolding, plywood pieces, or other random items from his garage!  Trey and Ambry are always SO surprised and excited when they see it the next morning!  Today they had a blast ice skating, eating icicles, and even laughing at themselves when they slipped and fell!  Papaw did this for Luke when he was a boy, and now the frozen tradition continues.  Daddies make everything fun!

Fire!

Our little boy is growing up!  Tonight Trey built his first fire in our fireplace!  He gathered the lighter and firewood, and Luke showed him how to stack it just right.  He lit the matches and got it started and then we all enjoyed the warmth while watching Shrek 2!!  We are so proud!  T is definitely following right along in his daddy's footsteps.

Brrr!

Ice Ice Baby!

Lots of ice today at our house... but sadly not much snow!  Trey and Ambry are making the most of all the white!  Iceballs are hitting the windows, green machines are sliding down the driveway,
and two happy kiddos are begging for hot chocolate!
